Spinergy Wheel Raffle

The Scott and BR cycling team is raffling off a great set of Spinergy PBO wheels for a great cause, the Challenged Athletes Foundation! These wheels retail for $1199.00. The technical details about the wheels can be found HERE.

We are only selling 600 tickets to keep the odds of winning relatively low. Your odds of winning these wheels are better than winning a similar cash prize in a $5.00 California Scratcher game! And better yet, your donation for the ticket is tax deductible.

If you don’t live in the San Diego area, don’t let that stop you from buying a raffle ticket. If the winner is outside the San Diego area, we will ship these wheels free anywhere in the US. If you aren’t a bicyclist, these wheels will make a bicyclist a great (maybe early!) Christmas gift! Raffle ticket prices are one entry for $5.00 and five entries for $20.00.

Follow the below six simple steps to purchase a raffle ticket(s):

1. Click on the link: http://mdc2010.kintera.org/xx1090/
2. Enter your desired contribution ($5 for one ticket, $20 for five tickets) and click the Continue button.
3. Fill in the donor information and payment information. This is on secure page. When the page is completed, it will look like the below image. Click the Submit button.

4. Fill in the dedication page and select a recognition type of “In support of” and input ‘Wheel Raffle” in the “Recognition To” text box. The completed page will look like the below image. Click the Continue button.

We will fill out a raffle ticket (s), take a picture of the ticket, send the picture back to you via email, and put the ticket in the drawing jar. The picture of the ticket will look like the below image.

Don’t wait to enter! The drawing ends September 24th or when 600 tickets or sold, which ever comes first. We will draw the winning ticket on September 26th and notify the winner via email and/or phone. We will also post the winners name/ticket on the blog.

Please email 2010scottbrcycling@gmail.com with any questions.

Thank you to Robert Rodriguez from Spinergy for donating this great wheel set!

Week Two Ball - Columbia Pure Physics

Bicycle Poker Run

We would like to invite you to a great ride for a great cause! On September 11, 2010 at 7:00 AM, the Scott and BR Radio Group is holding a Poker Run benefiting the Challenge Athletes Foundation. This is great opportunity to meet some new people, and/or ride with some of your friends and all for a great cause. If you are part of the Million Dollar Challenge (MDC), you also a chance to ride back to back to days and increase your fitness level and all for wonderful cause. The event starts at Carmel Valley Park at 3700 Townsgate Drive in the lower parking lot.

What is a poker run? A poker run is just like a game of poker. But instead of sitting at a table, waiting for a card and getting a chance to bet. You get on your bike, ride with your friends and ride for a chance to win with the best hand. Did we mention you can also win by having the worse hand? What a deal! The ride will consist of 39 miles or you can ride an extra 11.5 miles and get a free bonus card and increase your chance of winning! There will be four SAG stops and riders from the MDC and Radio group will be at each stop to give out drinks. At each stop and at the finish you will also pick a random card from the deck. So at the end of the ride, you will have a full hand of five cards. Or if you did the extra mileage up Scripps Poway Parkway (you didn’t think getting a free card would be easy did you?), you will have six cards. One extra card can also be purchased for $5.00. The cards drawn are marked on a card that all riders must carry with them. This card also contains the route. Click HERE for a sample card with the route.
You will get a chance to win a Nano Ipod and a Itunes gift card worth $25 and the worst hand will win a gift certificate at the Brigantine Restaurant. For all QMDC riders that can join us on Saturday, we will have a drawing for an extra prize before Sunday's training ride. It’s a win-win situation for all. I hope you can join us for this amazing and fun weekend.

Each rider will receive a card like the attached "card" which will be "punched" during the ride. This card also contains the route for the ride. The route can be viewed or downloaded at BikeRouteToaster.com to a Garmin or other GPS device by clicking HERE.  The course map can also be viewed below and opened in MapMyRide.com

Great Friends!
24 Hour Challenge

What challenge you say? On the radio the other morning Keith called into the Scott & BR Show to chat it up with the witty duo. While on the radio with Scott & BR, Keith somehow ended up in a challenge. His challenge is to ride a continuous 24 hours through San Diego and end up at the Scott & BR Great Friends vs Great Whites event at the La Jolla Cove on Sept 2 at 9:30am.

So why would Keith want to take up this daunting task? During their impromptu radio challenge, Keith seized the opportunity to turn this challenge into a fundraiser. Just like Scott did for the Great White event in raising money for the Great Friends Foundation. As most of you know from the Scott & BR website and reading blogs from the radio contestant riders, one of our primary objectives is to raise money and awareness for the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The other radio contestants/team members will also be helping by either riding with Keith or following along in a vehicle.

From RAAM 2010 Photo GallerySo here we are with a goal and a challenge and now we call on you. We are looking for your pledges and your support. Help Keith make his 24 hours in the saddle (ouch!) worth the effort by making a pledge for the number of miles that Keith is going to ride. Or please make a donation immediately by clicking HERE.

To make a pledge per mile please send your contact information and amount you would like to pledge to our e-mail HERE. Or leave your contact information as a comment on this blog.

We also want you to show your support for Keith and the cause he is riding to benefit. Please join Keith on his journey, as we will be posting location updates on this blog as well as various websites as he checks in with the team.  Finally, special thanks to PowerBar and Mari Holden for being our nutrition sponsor during the 24 hour ride!  Love those PowerBar calories!
